When the pandemic (Covid) happened, I had to change how I managed my business. That is when I realized I had over 150 clients! That many people trusted me with their entire financial life.
From asking me to attend meetings with estate lawyers, how to invest their money, or should they buy a house; I quickly realized I needed a different process. I needed better organization and higher security for my business to continue. I had to find technology and software, develop procedures, hire staff, and move to a completely online business. Over 150 people were trusting MY opinion when most businesses were closing and people were dying in masses. I had to decide: do I embrace technology and the web (which I hate) or do I close the doors.

My clients wanted me even more, so I decided to jump into the unfamiliar and unwanted area of technology and cloud services to embrace the new demands of managing my business.
In addition to those challenges, I had started to invest in real estate in 2019 and and I ran into a major problem at the beginning of the pandemic. I tried to finance the rehab for an investment property I owned, but the financing fell through. A week after the rejection, Covid shut everything down and fear took over. I could have been liable for a $100,000 loan with no rehab work being done and no revenue coming in. I kept telling myself, "Why did you think you could do this?"
"Why did you think you could do this?"
The lender backed out because it was my first project and it was a big project and I did not choose a good team of contractors who were not responsive. I screwed up my first project. You can’t survive in this business without a good team of contractors. I kept thinking about giving up, but I kept the house and let it sit.
In 2021 everyone wanted to buy it, but I kept saying no (I did not want to sell). They started calling and texting my husband and he got mad. One Sunday, someone sent him a text and they would not take no for an answer, so I asked for a ridiculous amount (or so I thought), and they asked where to email the contract? That is when I realized there were other ways to be a real estate investor. The pandemic pushed me to rise above the challenges I didn't think I could overcome. It showed me I was capable of achieving greater possibilities than imagined.

I have never told anyone of these struggles or challenges before. Answering these questions to tell my story required me to dig deeper, look straight into the eyes of the life I have lived, accept my part in it, then put it in writing for others to repeatedly read. At first, I felt like it was written proof of my incompetence and failures; confirmation to all the Naysayers in my life. However, I realized it has confirmed my decision to embrace my gift of being a big dreamer and the challenges I have overcome to achieve those.
