The Driving Force Behind My Entrepreneurial Journey: What Motivated Me to Start my own Business

Updated: Sep 16

I was still working part-time for a cleaning company when I started my own business. I also have three toddlers, so need to wear the mom "hat" as well. They had all gotten sick one time and I had to miss a couple days from working for the cleaning company and she let me go.

Emotionally, I was devastated. The income from that job wasn't much, but it was something I needed.

However, the situation drove me to get more clients for myself. When I first started my business, one of the biggest challenges was knowing what was expected and what was "too much" for my clients. As in, when I would go into their home to clean, what did they expect me to do? What was I doing that I didn't really need to be doing or took too much time?

I also struggled with finding the right products to use when I first started. I wanted to use things that I had used all my life, things I knew would get results. These were also loaded with chemicals. So after some research, I started making my own organic cleaner (which by the way cleans BETTER than any other cleaning solution I've used!) Making it myself cut the cost and allowed me to adjust the strength based on the conditions.

The funny part is, I've never even thought about owning my own business. One night I decided I was going to start a cleaning business. I wanted the freedom of being my own boss for my kids. My goal now is: I want my company to grow and be the best cleaning company in KC!
