Moving back to Kansas City to open up a store front with no prior clientele in the area was a huge risk. I had opened up a salon in our home we owned back east. It was easy, from the paperwork, from advertising, everything about it was easy. I had a following from my work at previous employers out there so the shift was a lot smoother. But moving back to my old apartment with my partner and three dogs all together while only having a few months of rent left in my bank account. It was rough.
However, I've never felt more accomplished than when I'm doing my own thing in my salon and people actually experience what i want to give them and their pets. Someone once told me that they appreciated the fact that I take time to explain the details about grooming dogs and tips on care for them so they can grasp being a pet parent. I love giving detailed reports about how the dog did and what can help make their dog's experience better the next time they come. I really want their dogs to have fun. If I can get all parties on board, together we can make the experience so much less scary.

One of my bigger goals is to be able to hire groomers I've met in the pet industry who might not have felt welcomed or accepted at work places, while trying to learn how to navigate the love of working with animals. I want to provide a safe space for other people like me, when I first started out.
One of the biggest solutions that has helped me overcome obstacles is I've learned to speak things into existence. The law of attraction is a real thing and I try to remember this every single day.

I started with the manifestation seed of "maybe switching jobs will help me", I moved to the Pittsburgh area to learn to groom. I watered it with "maybe someday I can open a business", I learned all I could online about how to do it. Out grew a sturdy sprout of "I am going to open a business." Once I made that decision, I opened my home-based salon which caught the eye of a local business owner. He told me he wanted to give me a building to work out of. I started buying equipment for it but I wanted it to be in Kansas City (KC) because my mom lived in Missouri. Then boom: the building that I'm currently in came into my line of sight. That soon grew into the plant of "I will succeed."
I know now that words have power so choosing the words I use to describe any part of my business are with the idea of intention behind them.
